Ham & Beans

Ingredients

  • 2 SFM Co ham hocks or 1 ham hock and 1 ham slice

  • 1 onion; diced

  • 1 20-oz package of Hurst's 15 Bean Soup beans

  • 3 tsps of liquid smoke

  • 1 Tbsp. ham broth base

  • 1 Tbsp. minced garlic

  • 4 cups water

  • Salt & pepper to taste


Directions

  • Open the package of dried beans and rinse under cool running water. Let drain.

  • Add the ham, beans, onion, garlic, seasonings, and water to the crockpot. Don't forget to add the seasoning packet that comes with the beans. Set on low to cook for 10 hours.

  • Once finished, pull out the bone, and carefully shred the meat. The beans will be tender.

  • Mix with your favorite cornbread, and enjoy!


**This is not a soup. The finished product should be thick and creamy from all the beans!
