Introducing Olivia

If you are new here, welcome! Steckler Family Meat Co. is a quartette of sisters working together to bring locally raised beef and pork products to our community. Though the farm has been around since 1958, when our grandparents bought it, our meat  business started in March of 2023. Our mission is to show our community the ins and outs of farming in southern Indiana and how we raise our beef and pork products. We do not like labels because they are confusing to everyone who reads them including us! We aim to show you our farm and family throughout everyday life! This week we are beginning our reintroduction series because if you are new here you might not know much about us! Our dad is Paul and he is one of 17 siblings that grew up on their family dairy farm in st. Henry Indiana. Dad had four girls Olivia, Tabby, Gina, and Kendra and we started the direct to consumer meat business. Today we are going to tell you a little more about  the oldest sister Olivia.

Olivia just turned the big 30! If you have gotten a delivery from us you have probably met her friendly face! Also, following closely behind are her three kids Attie, Maggie, and baby J (Joesph). Olivia and her husband Cort just added the newest addition at the end of April! We all love having the kids around!

Olivia is in charge of delivering all of our orders and is 90% of the time the person you will see manning the farmers market in Huntingburg. She is a big help when it comes to deciding what meat cuts  and sizes to select because she worked at a butcher shop in high school!

Olivia received her bachelor's degree in agriculture education from Purdue University. She has a passion for working with people in agriculture whether it was in the classroom with FFA students or with farmers in our local community. That is why her role at Steckler Family Meat Co works so well for her! Connecting our community with where our food comes from is such a blessing.

Beside her mom and work duties, Olivia has lots of hobbies! First and foremost, she is a plant lover. She knows all the names of the flowers and is an avid hoarder of houseplants. Also, along with the rest of the world, she is currently in her sourdough era! This is great for the family because there is nothing better than a warm slice of bread and butter. When she isn’t at the farmers market, you can catch her baking for her family on Saturday morning and listening to the oldie music on WBDC; Good Time Gold!

Finally, as the oldest sister we really feel like there isn’t anyone better! She paved the way for the rest of us to make it through to this point! Her quiet, steady, supportive and reliable personality is a great part of our family!

We hope you enjoyed getting to know a little bit more about our oldest sister and hope you tune in for the next sister update!

Love,

Olivia, Tabby, Gina, & Kendra
