INGREDIENTS:
1 pound SFM ground beef
3 tbsp. butter
2 tbsp. all-purpose flour
2 1/2 cups milk
2 tsp. beef soup base
1 tsp. cumin
salt and pepper to taste
Directions:
Brown the ground beef in a skillet. Most of the liquid should evaporate out, but you can drain it on a piece of paper towel if needed.
Add the burger back to the skillet and add the butter. Let the butter melt and coat all pieces of hamburger.
Once the butter has melted, add the flour and stir constantly. Brown the flour for one minute to cook out the flour taste.
Add in the milk slowly, and stir quickly to avoid lumps. The gravy will thicken.
Once thickened, add the beef soup base, cumin, salt, and pepper to the gravy to season.
It's done! Use the gravy to top mashed potatoes, biscuits, rice, etc.
**This recipe is so versatile. Instead of browning the hamburger, you could shape it into patties before frying.
