Hamburger Gravy

INGREDIENTS:

  • 1 pound SFM ground beef

  • 3 tbsp. butter

  • 2 tbsp. all-purpose flour

  • 2 1/2 cups milk

  • 2 tsp. beef soup base

  • 1 tsp. cumin

  • salt and pepper to taste

Directions:

  • Brown the ground beef in a skillet. Most of the liquid should evaporate out, but you can drain it on a piece of paper towel if needed.

  • Add the burger back to the skillet and add the butter. Let the butter melt and coat all pieces of hamburger.

  • Once the butter has melted, add the flour and stir constantly. Brown the flour for one minute to cook out the flour taste.

  • Add in the milk slowly, and stir quickly to avoid lumps. The gravy will thicken.

  • Once thickened, add the beef soup base, cumin, salt, and pepper to the gravy to season.

  • It's done! Use the gravy to top mashed potatoes, biscuits, rice, etc.

**This recipe is so versatile. Instead of browning the hamburger, you could shape it into patties before frying.
